First 10 Photos Of 2022
I've been in a photographic slump over the past few months. The weather outside has been quite boring and time has been very harsh in allowing me to get any gaps in it. Also the few photos I have been taking have not measured up to my usual liking. Combine all these things together and get a steep dive in the photography enjoyment graph. I still want to go outside and take photos but the time aspect has been very limiting. Also having boring light / weather conditions outside and not producing images that I like means that I am less likely to try and find slots to use for photography. A vicious cycle.
How do you break these chains if you're not a crazy, dragon riding queen? You buy some photography gear. I have bought a few new things but it will take time until some reviews come out of them. Lack of time means that I haven't had time to write a larger writing about something more substantial than "first 10 photos of 2022". So that's what this writing is about. Luckily I have spent more time taking photos the past few days in 2022 which means that I have something to share. They are still not amazing photos but they are getting more to my liking which is soothing.
Without any further ado — here are 10 photos made in 2022. The title of this writing claims that they are the "first 10 photos". It is and isn't true — depends on the perspective. They aren't the first 10 shutter releases in 2022. But they are one of the first photos of 2022 as 2022 is only starting so attaching "first" there isn't a big lie. This isn't a fake news site after all. Facts only.

Let's start with an image that I'm not even sure was taken in 2022. The film was definitely developed in 2022 so that pretty much means that the photo was made in 2022. Before that it was in Schrödinger's Photo situation. Until developed and observed the photo was both in a state of not existing and existing.
It's a simple photo of lovely winter colors. It was a cold and windy day. I love TLRs but there is one negative with them during winter. My nose is very runny in cold weather and all the liquid snot drips on the waist-level viewfinder. Because it's cold it instantly freezes there and you end up with a snot covered viewfinder by the end of the session.

We went one a first family-walk outing in a while. Family-walk outings are a great way to take photos and I missed them.
This is not a great photo but I like the huge transmission line contrasting with my family.

You obviously take many cameras on family-walk outings. This is taken from the same spot as the previous photo but looking the other way.
Once again the photo is quite boring but it's just nice to be outside and take photos.
The Bessa had a 645 insert so it's not a 6x9 image. I like the large size of 6x9 but the aspect ratio is better on 645.

Another photo from The Bessa. As is the story for most of these photos — there is nothing groundbreaking here. I like the depth of field and tonality though. The framing is not nice. Quite a few shots had a wonky framing and I'm thinking that the viewfinder has some issues in 645 mode and it's not showing what I will actually get.

A simple but pleasing to the eye photo. No cars were harmed during the taking of this photo.
Another cold day meant that viewfinder was filling with snot.

I have been shooting quite a lot with Rolleicord. It's a very nice camera.
I've been wanting to write a film review of Kodak Portra 400. It's one of the most popular film stocks but I have never achieved great results with it. This was my latest attempt in trying to get results that amaze me. Sadly I didn't get that. The light wasn't the best but I still was hoping for something else. I will try some more.
I like the photo though. The car looks good in front of the church and the red color fits well with church accent color of red.

I like this photo although it's overexposed. Both from exposure perspective and also some over-development. Luckily it can be saved well enough.

- Camera
- Fujifilm X-A1 ( infrared converted )
- Lens
- Voigtländer Super Wide Heliar 15mm f4.5
Infrared testing has been slow because of the largely overcast weather most of the time.
I'm planning to take part in a local photo competition so this was intended for the first theme of the competition. Sadly I don't think any of the photos are good enough or match the theme well. I still have a bit of time left so hopefully I will get at least one photo that I like. I intend to write more about this competition in future writings.

This photo, like the previous ( and next ) one was also part of my short photo walk in hopes of finding a photo worthy of a local competition.
Instead we get a simple photo that's not terrible but not great. It was good to take out the Sigma again as I hadn't shot it in a while. The technical quality that this camera can produce is amazing.

Last photo is also from Sigma. I will find a good use for this photo but sadly it's not fitting the theme for the competition. Nor is it strong enough on its own.
